A timber-frame family house that settles quietly into the lakeside landscape.

The house follows the gentle slope of the site and opens toward the lake with generous glazing. An elongated timber-frame volume arranges living, cooking and retreat in a clear sequence. A cantilevered canopy shelters the terrace and frames the view across the water without obstructing the landscape.

Inside, exposed spruce, oiled oak flooring and slurried fair-faced concrete define the atmosphere. A heat pump using lake water and a controlled ventilation system keep energy demand low. The restrained choice of materials allows the house to age gracefully over the years and to defer to its surroundings.
